Mission/Outreach

Our purpose as a church is reflected in our Mission/ Outreach program. As a United Methodist congregation we participate in the denominational benevolence program that is apportioned to each local congregation. Our goal is to be a 100% participating congregation in fair-share giving.

In addition, “Ministry Jubilee” is an opportunity within our Detroit Annual Conference to join with other congregations to support outreach programs in our area.

A Welcome Table is staffed to welcome new persons and visitors to our church. Literature is given introducing them to our church, directions are offered, and a welcome is extended.

A Visitation Team visits our shut-ins and hospitalized each month on a regular basis. Currently, three teams are active.

A Health Ministry Team made up of health care persons of the church meets monthly and offers services and information for the congregation. Blood pressures are taken monthly following worship, coordination with the St. Joseph Livingston Hospital Parish Nurse Liaison, training is offered, Red Cross blood banks are hosted, and participation with Healthy Living is given. A Medical Closet is housed in our church with equipment and supplies available for use or lending. Each Sunday a health emphasis topic is included in the worship bulletin. We have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) on site for emergencies.

Local mission projects that our church has participated in include: housing the homeless, Habitat for Humanity, leading services at two local nursing homes for a month, walk for hunger in the CROP Walk, and provide financial support to LACASA, Pregnancy Help Clinic, Walk for Warmth, Connection Youth Services, and the Salvation Army. Our youth groups have Mission Work Camps during the summer, and members of the church have participated in the work camps of the Volunteers-in-Mission program of the denomination. We participate in the ecumenical worship services of our community and in other programs sponsored by the Howell Ministerial Association. Our church hosts a number of community groups that use our building. We Participate in L.O.V.E., Inc., a network of community churches offering hope and help to those in need. Our gap ministry with L.O.V.E., Inc. is providing laundry supplies.

STEPHEN MINISTRY: This ministry is for persons who need a Christian friend to help them through a difficult time. Referrals are made by the Pastor.
